Falling way behind Everton
It's clear from the targets and success Everton are dealing in that they've made a statement to pull away from the chasing pack. Our board would do well to follow their lead if we want some success at our place.

Feel free to cunt me off if you disagree.

Disagree? The only way someone could disagree with that, is that you're saying we're falling way behind. We fell behind many years ago. How much did they buy Lukaku for?

Re: Falling way behind Everton
Ok yes. We need to halt this obsession with Everton. They have made some transfer dealings. Big deal. End of.

We have signed a player. We will sign some more players. We will sell some players. We will release some players.

Our board don't have the competence to match their overegged ambition I'm afraid.

They're about to sell their two best players this summer......No matter what they do, they will struggle to replace lukaku and his goals...So, basically, you're talking shit.

Re: Falling way behind Everton
If i was an Everton fan i would expect at least 100 million to be spent this pre season. They're going to lose their star striker who wins them countless points a season so maybe it will soften the blow buying these players when lukaku leaves

Re: Falling way behind Everton
Lukaku and Barkley both want out and they have bought a 30m goalkeeper that has had one season in the pl and got relegated, a Dutch midfielder and a Spanish forward that neither are greatly tipped for success.

Yeah falling well behind. Well jell.

Yeah but we have got a larger stadium than them.... ok it's only rented out 20 odd days a year .... but it is bigger... so we are bigger.... yeah??

Lukaku and Barkley haven't gone yet. If they do (not sure Barkley will) then Everton will be judged on their replacements.

I'll judge our owners at the end of the window.

Everton were clearly prepared for the summer so the new players have time to bed in. They surely started negotiations a while ago and are reaping the results of good planning.

Have they bought top drawer?

No.

Re: Falling way behind Everton
Everton have been a mainstay of the PL for decades, we have yoyo'd in that time, of course they are further down the evolutionary track than we are.

Additionally I don't think we can criticise Everton for losing their best players, it just goes to show how good they are at buying and developing talent. Look at Rooney, Stones and now Davies, etc. The fact those players get sold at some point for massive profits just helps them to become more successful as a club. They committed serious money buying Lukaku a few years ago at a level that is still to this day 50% higher than our biggest ever signing. Their gonna make a circa £70m profit on him so saying they can't keep hold of their best players is hardly a dig at them.

We had Payet and couldn't keep hold of him and sold him for peanuts given the money that is being banded about currently. Not slagging off the club but it is true that Everton are a good example for us to follow.

Both of their signings are strong players. Ultimately if the goals of Rom leave then they'll need quality to maintain their position in the top 8, and they've done that with both of their signings.

Re: Falling way behind Everton
Payet turned into a cunt and there was one bidder in town. Should have sold him in the summer in hindsight.

Shall we sell Lanzini, Antonio and Reid just to prove we can sell players for fuckloads of money?

Re: Falling way behind Everton
Pickford is nothing special.

Dutch league is average.

Jim79 4:51 Tue Jun 20
Re: Falling way behind Everton
The point is should we sell them, the point is those players want to leave so at least Everton are getting top dollar for them and not being mugged off.

Lukaku is one of the hottest properties in football so of course he is going to go to a more prestigious club but at least Everton have had 3 yrs service from him and make a huge profit enabling them to invest and replace. Spurs had a very similar growth pattern having sold the likes of Modric and Bale. Hate them but you can hardly argue they are now in a stronger position through the way they have developed as a club and in a better position for success.
